Br'er Rabbit is a central figure in the Uncle Remus stories of the Southern United States. He is a trickster who succeeds through his wits rather than through strength, tweaking authority figures and bending social mores as he sees fit. The origin of Br'er Rabbit is linked to both African and Cherokee cultures.
Br'er Rabbit the cider was launched at StoneFest to much acclaim in August 2010 in San Diego, and is an unfiltered Rhubrab & Elderberry flavored cider aged in Merlot wine barrels.
The name conjures the traditional imagery true of all fables, but has an "Enid Blyton" Englishness about it despite it's Native American & African origins. Br'er Rabbit the cider has an Englishness to it derived from the classic English fruits - Rhubarb and Elderberry, but is underpinned by sheer New World American inventiveness, and just a little trickery that comes from aging in Merlot barrels. Crispin's African heritage is well known.
Br'er Rabbit is an unfiltered cider, made from naturally fermented apple-wine using fresh pressed apple-juice from apples sourced in the Pacific Northwest region of the USA.
